Sources & methodology

The quality of GasMobility rests on two pillars: sourced, dated public data, and on-the-ground feedback from professional drivers. Here is how the database is built and maintained.

Seasoned truckers

The app is kept up to date by seasoned truckers who criss-cross Europe: they report closed or unusable stations, correct prices and hours, and provide the best possible on-the-ground feedback on every station. Public data says a station exists. They say whether it actually works.

Open data sources

  • MIMIT (Italy): official gas prices, applied automatically.
  • E-Control (Austria): CNG prices declared by legal obligation.
  • Geoportal Gasolineras (Spain): official ministry prices, CC BY 4.0 licence.
  • DGEG (Portugal): official fuel prices.
  • EIPA / UDT (Poland): legal registry of refuelling installations.
  • GRDF Open Data (France): public CNG stations of the grid operator.
  • Gas.be (Belgium): Belgian gas association.
  • Energigas Sverige (Sweden): Swedish energy gases association.
  • Google Maps, to confirm a station: position, actual opening, name.

Arbitration and traceability

Many sources contradict each other: a station open for one, closed for another, prices that diverge. An operator must arbitrate the changes, field by field, keeping the provenance of each data point.

With only a limited number of employees, errors can occur. Every report from a driver or a user helps detect and fix them.
